I am a regular consultant to UKGrid Ltd, an Internet service provider with special expertise in the area of educational technology.
I am the original author of the software Bodington which is used by the University of Oxford and a number of other organisations to build VLEs (otherwise known as course management systems). I also managed the VLE service for the University of Leeds for many years and used the system myself to teach a course of IT and statistics to Biology students.
I have many years experience of creating educational software and multimedia in a number of subject areas. In particular Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics. I am able to produce simulations, 3d animations and web based exercises using a number of techniques - hypertext and JavaScript, molecular modelling, 3d rendering, Java Applets etc.
My experience covers the entire spectrum of educational provision from IT mediated and conventional teaching experience, course management, course design, course review, desktop publication of course books, creation of interactive teaching aids using HTML, multimedia and Java, creation of an on-line learning environment, provision of a VLE service for a large university, management of the VLE service including the running of a help desk, hardware procurement, management of hardware maintenance, and staff training. I have a particular interest in the accessibility of IT services for persons with and without disabilities.
